Visa regulations

Generally speaking, everyone needs a visa to study in Germany. This does not apply to EU nationals or citizens of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, however.

Visas are issued by the German embassies or consulates in your country, and you need to apply for your visa before entering Germany. The application process can be lengthy, but prospective students are usually given priority. We strongly advise students to apply for their visas as early as possible, and are committed to supporting your applications.
