Please note that the third cohorte of the Anglophone EMT programme offered by ATAF and GIZ has been put on hold until further notice. After two very successful intakes time is needed to evaluate and strengthen the programme offer and its quality in order to meet the real needs of African Revenue authorities.  Moreover a need for a harmonised concept to better align the EMT Anglophone and the EMT Francophone, which is going into the second round this year, has become evident.

The current EMT programme cooperation with BSEL and Witwatersrand University terminates at the end of the 2015/2016 academic year.

We will inform you on any developments and the new starting date of the programme in due time.

Strengthening tax systems and promoting good financial governance in Africa

Quality improvement in African public financing has gained momentum over the past years. Nevertheless, the strengthening of the technical and managerial capacities of professionals and executives from the public sector remains one of the primary challenges for the development of a functioning public-finance system.

The Africa-wide ATAF report on the reform priorities of African tax administrations identifies the attraction of qualified and highly skilled staff for tax administrations as a key challenge for the effective functioning of African tax administrations. To this end, ATAF and GIZ are committed to supporting the development of training opportunities in public finance on the continent.

Through the ongoing partnership between ATAF and GIZ, both organisations are focused on reaching these goals and improving technical and professional capacities in revenue administrations across the continent.

As an integral component of this partnership between German development cooperation and ATAF, the Executive Master’s in Taxation programme is aimed at creating cooperative training opportunities in tax administration and ministries of finance.
